Me-time for Moms

Mom Relaxing

Whether you have 1 child or 2, whether you are working or nonworking, whether you live in a nuclear family or a joint family, Me-time seems non existing for mothers. But after experiencing the joy of motherhood for 10 years I have figured out ways to oxygenate myself in between. Here are a few tips to take out self-time, no matter how tight the schedule is.

If you have 1-5 min at your disposal

  • Drink a relaxing drink- Lemonade being my fav.
  • Practice breathing: Anulom-Vilom ( Smell the flowers - Blow the candles, Smell the flowers-Blow the candles)
  • Take your Vitamins
  • Give yourself a refreshing Face wash
  • Hug your child-Trust me, this is the most refreshing thing of them all.

If you have 5-10 min at your disposal

  • Call your Friends - I do this most of the time
  • Add those extra mins to your shower time
  • Listen to your fav songs.
  • Change the wallpaper/ringtone of your phone
  • Read an informative blog

If you have 10-30 min at your disposal

  • Trim/Water your plants
  • Clean something or rearrange your wardrobe
  • Make yourself a Chamomile Tea
  • Check out your fav Social Media /Youtube /News Channel.
  • Put on a rejuvenating face mask.
  • Refashion your/children's room.
  • Take a power nap- if not sleeping, even lying down in bed for 20 - 30 min will do wonders

If you have 1 hr at your disposal

  • Practice Yoga Asanas
  • Play a game.- Card Game, Board Games or Solve a Puzzle.
  • Cook/Bake a delicious meal.
  • Write a blog. ( exactly what I am doing right now :P)
  • Read a Novel or listen to it on Audible for fun.
  • Watch an indulging comedy on Netflix/Amazon Prime
  • Go for a walk
  • Pamper yourself with a nice lunch outing with friends.

Hope this article can help you utilize those little moments in life that we tend to miss otherwise. If you have any more self-care tips please let us know.

    2. A child will never grow old for a mother, there will always be interdependency. And frankly, 5 is too early to make your child that independent. As far as husbands (aka part-time mothers cum home-runners) are considered, they are equally tired at times, even they need a break. So yes spending quality time with them is a super stress buster for both.

  6. I agree that when a child is 5+ a woman should start working for herself. A very important part to understand is that all children are from us not for us. So they should be a part of your life not your life.

  10. Incredible n insightful indeed. We as mothers neglect the me time most of the times which in return makes us stressed n frustrated. The time just for your own self should be celebrated n cherished at utmost levels. It energises us n keeps us happy.
P.S: A pampering spa session as me time is the best one for me though๐Ÿคญ
